Echinacea is one of the best known plants worldwide for its antibacterial and antiviral action. Its effectiveness is attributed to its indolizidine alkaloids , phenolic compounds, polysaccharides , etc. It is immunostimulating, that is to say that it will stimulate the immune system, therefore to be taken rather in treatment than in prevention. Another still very little known aspect of echinacea is its content of phytocannabinoids, cannabinoids present in various plants outside of cannabis, responsible for the activation of CB1 or CB2 receptors. CB2 receptors have been shown to modulate acute pain, chronic inflammatory pain, post-surgical pain, cancer pain, and pain associated with nerve damage.
